Hannah's Room

Here at Shaffett Emporium we are always got some interesting projects going. Whether they are for our etsy shop (shaffettemporium) or just projects for ourselves we stay very busy.

This is Noah in the workshop outback. He has always enjoyed working with his hands. Since he has some learning disabilities we have begun to work on areas he is strong in.  It always amazes me how he can see things in his mind and create them. Wood working is something we add to his education. He enjoys building things and has helped over the past few years to build furniture for our home. Hannah's furniture in her room was built by Noah, Hannah and myself. Many of the pieces were inspired by Anna Whites website (annawhite.com). We took the plans and alter as needed to fit our needs.

This first picture shows her vanity which was our first experience with electricity. to a miscommunication with my husband I wound up with double the wood I wanted one year for Christmas and so we come up with this project for the extra wood.  The H above the vanity is for her nail polish. The boys made it for Hannah's birthday one year.

The jewelry box, the picture board, and the nightstand Hannah made. The bed was a family effort since it was such a large project. The shelf next to the window was another present the boys made for Hannah's Christmas a year ago.

The secretarial, the bench and the dresser was made by Noah and me. The bench cushions and the quilt on the bed was also a project Hannah and I worked on. It took us a couple of years to finish the whole room but it is finally done. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when we removed the carpet from her room we found wood floor. They were in very bad shape but Noah and I worked hard at sanding them down and refinishing them.
